Customize Your Workouts and Become Your Own Personal Trainer

Own Personal Trainer

Hiring a personal trainer is a huge commitment, especially financially. It is a great way to stay on track with your fitness goals, as there are a lot of benefits to human personal trainers, such as the face-to-face, hands on workouts and live motivation. However, hiring a personal trainer is not realistic for everyone. For many, the cost is a barrier as personal can sometimes run up to a couple hundred dollars for one hour, with some even pricier. Others may find that the time commitment is simply not possibly for their busy schedule. Remember, it is not only your schedule that needs to be considered but also the trainers.

Fortunately, there are several new fitness apps that are a terrific alternative to hiring a personal trainer. You can work out on your schedule, at your pace, and wherever you want. Don’t get me wrong. If you can hire a personal trainer, go for it! There are so many advantages that cannot be substituted by a fitness app. With that said, though, it is possibly to become your own “personal trainer” with the help of your tablet or phone. Here are some of my favorite.

Nike Training Club

Cost: Free

This app lets you choose your personal goals, such as weight loss or toning up. Then, you can select one of the 100+ different workouts created especially by Nike trainers. The workouts use videos, audio cues and step by step images to help you learn the exercises and routines. Unlike a human personal trainer, you can pause the app trainer if you need a break so you can go at a pace that best suits your fitness level. This app is great for entry level, intermediate and advanced levels.

Skimble’s Workout Trainer

Cost: Free, but there are premium options that cost between $1.99 and $59.99

Skimble’s Workout Trainer is a fitness app I personally use. If you want a challenging workout, the Workout Trainer will give it to you! You can get in shape by choosing from the thousands of workouts the app offers at no cost. Purchasing the premium version is not necessary to enjoy the many workouts, but you may love it so much that you want to try the premium version. The app offers a personal trainer to guide you through the exercise routines, with step by step audio, video instructions and photos, scheduling in small rest periods between sets. You can try Tabata HIIT, CrossFit, Detox Yoga, or Pilates with the app. Or, you can push yourself with a new cardio workout, or an intense strength training workout. Workout Trainer is especially ideal for those who do not have access to exercise equipment, as it specializes in bodyweight movements for a terrific workout.
